Dhaka, July 28 (V7N)- The verdict in the case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against former Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor Sitanshu Kumar (SK) Sur Chowdhury for failing to submit his asset declaration will be announced today.
Judge Ayesha Nasrin of Dhaka’s Special Judge Court-2 is scheduled to deliver the verdict on Tuesday (July 28). Earlier, arguments from both the prosecution and the accused concluded on July 15.
The ACC filed the case against SK Sur Chowdhury on December 23, 2024, over allegations of not submitting his asset declaration. The charge sheet was submitted to the court on August 4, 2025. Later, on November 6 of the same year, the court framed charges and ordered the trial to proceed.
During the trial, seven witnesses testified before the court.
According to the case documents, the ACC had issued a notice to SK Sur Chowdhury and his dependents to submit their asset declarations within 21 working days following allegations of acquiring assets beyond known sources of income. However, he allegedly failed to submit the required declaration within the stipulated period.
The ACC later arrested SK Sur Chowdhury from the Segunbagicha area of Dhaka on January 14, 2025. He has remained in custody since then.
