Dhaka, July 16, (V7N) – BRTA Chairman Abu Momtaz Saad Uddin Ahmed has said that restoring order and safety on the country’s roads is not possible without removing unfit vehicles. He made the remarks during a leaflet distribution program marking 'July Martyrs' Day' at Mohakhali Bus Terminal on Wednesday morning.
Speaking to reporters, the Chairman emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring road safety.
“A campaign is underway against expired and unfit vehicles. Strict measures are being taken to restore order. But this cannot be done by a single agency—it requires cooperation from everyone involved,” he said.
Referring to the legacy of the mass uprising, he also paid tribute to student martyr Abu Sayeed, saying:
“The people of Bangladesh will always remember Abu Sayeed for his sacrifice. His blood has laid the foundation of a new hope and commitment.”
The BRTA’s ongoing enforcement drive is part of a broader initiative by the interim government to improve public safety and uphold the spirit of the July Uprising, which continues to shape the country’s path forward.
