Rajshahi, July 27 (V7N) — Rajshahi City Corporation has handed over 155 advanced CCTV cameras to Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) to strengthen public safety, prevent crime, monitor traffic movement and develop a digitally secured city.
The cameras were formally handed over to RMP Commissioner Mohammad Faizul Kabir by Rajshahi City Corporation Administrator Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Riton at a ceremony held at the RMP Commissioner’s office conference room on Sunday (July 26).
Speaking at the event, Rajshahi City Corporation Administrator Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Riton said the city authority is working to ensure better civic services and address the needs of residents.
"We want to work based on the demands of the people. These advanced CCTV cameras have been provided to enhance the security of city residents. We will continue working together to build a safe and peaceful metropolitan city," he said.
He added that the City Corporation would continue providing necessary support to RMP to improve public safety and law enforcement activities.
RMP Commissioner Mohammad Faizul Kabir said the newly provided CCTV cameras would play an important role in preventive and detective policing and help strengthen security measures for citizens.
"With the installation of CCTV cameras at 155 new locations across the city, Rajshahi will move one step closer towards becoming a safer and more organised city with improved traffic management," he said.
He expressed his gratitude to the Rajshahi City Corporation administration for providing the modern surveillance equipment.
Officials from Rajshahi City Corporation and Rajshahi Metropolitan Police attended the event, including Chief Executive Officer Md. Rezaul Karim, Secretary Sohel Rana, Supervising Engineer Khairul Baker, Acting Supervising Engineer Ahmed Al Moin Parag, Executive Magistrate Nazmul Alam and Executive Engineer (Electricity) ABM Asaduzzaman Sweet.
Representing RMP, Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters) Mohammad Khorshed Alam, Deputy Commissioner (Motihar) Mainul Islam and Special Superintendent of Police (CTSB) Md. Abul Kalam Shahid were present, among others. The event was moderated by Deputy Commissioner (CTTC) Md. Gaziur Rahman.
The CCTV cameras will be installed at important roads, intersections and crowded public areas across Rajshahi city. Authorities said the technology will increase round-the-clock monitoring, help prevent crime, improve law and order, enhance traffic management and enable faster responses during emergencies.
