Dhaka, Jul 10 (V7N)- Continuous rainfall has disrupted normal life across several parts of the capital, with widespread waterlogging affecting roads, homes and businesses as monsoon rains continue.

Since Thursday night, persistent rain has inundated major areas including Khilkhet, Mirpur, Kazipara, Shewrapara and Rampura, leaving many roads under knee-deep water on Friday.

The accumulated rainwater has significantly slowed traffic movement in affected areas, while the operation of rickshaws and CNG-powered auto-rickshaws has come to a halt in several locations.

Residents and business owners have reported widespread inconvenience, with water entering homes and shops in low-lying neighborhoods, disrupting daily activities and commercial operations.

Local residents said waterlogging has become a recurring problem whenever heavy rain occurs, blaming inadequate drainage infrastructure for the persistent flooding in the city.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast that rainfall is likely to continue over the next 24 hours due to the active southwest monsoon, raising concerns that waterlogging in vulnerable areas could worsen if the downpour persists.

Authorities have advised commuters to exercise caution while traveling and urged residents in low-lying areas to remain alert as further rainfall is expected.
