Dhaka, Nov 08 (V7N)- Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has warned against attempts by any political group to claim exclusive ownership of the 2024 uprising, saying those seeking to become its “contractors” risk losing sight of its broader significance.

He made the remarks at a programme organised at the Officers’ Club in the capital on Saturday evening to mark National Revolution and Solidarity Day.

“Those who wanted to become contractors of the War of Independence and the Liberation War have become politically exhausted. Now, a new party has started doing the same with ’24. If we continue our work for ’24, no one will be able to claim ownership of it,” he said.

The Home Minister also called on public officials to perform their duties impartially, stressing that the administration must not be used by any political party to establish one-party rule.

He alleged that the interim government had sought to remain in power permanently and that several people in the administration had attempted to prolong its tenure. He further claimed that efforts had been made to delay the national election in the name of extending the reform process.

Salahuddin Ahmed said various conspiracies were still underway and warned that regional powers would continue their efforts following the defeat of what he described as hegemony.

However, he expressed determination to move forward through national unity to safeguard democracy.
