Washington, Nov 08 (V7N)- US President Donald Trump has offered Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President and CEO Dana White the position of White House press secretary, prompting speculation about whether the longtime Trump ally will accept the role.

Trump announced the offer in a post on his social media platform Truth Social on Saturday (November 7). However, CNN reported, citing a source familiar with the matter, that White had declined the offer. The White House has not formally confirmed the status of the proposal.

In his post, Trump wrote, “I am pleased to announce that the Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior, has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States.”

Trump also said he had asked White to bring several mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters as assistants, including some who are not US citizens. Referring to them, he wrote, “We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left.”

“Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job!” Trump added.

White did not publicly confirm or deny accepting the position. Speaking at a news conference in London on Saturday, he said he was travelling to Washington, DC, for a meeting with Trump on Monday and expected to have more to say afterwards. He also shared an image of himself standing behind the White House press briefing room podium on Instagram, captioned, “On to the next chapter.”

A White House aide reportedly suggested that Trump's announcement may have been made jokingly, leaving uncertainty over whether the offer was intended as a formal appointment.

White, 57, has been a close friend and longtime supporter of Trump for more than two decades. Their relationship dates back to the period when UFC events struggled to secure venues and Trump's casinos in Atlantic City provided opportunities to host the fights.

Since then, White has become one of Trump's prominent supporters. He spoke in support of Trump at the Republican National Conventions in 2016, 2020 and 2024 and also took part in celebrations following Trump's victory in the 2024 presidential election.

Trump, meanwhile, has remained a regular UFC spectator and is frequently seen attending the organisation's events alongside White.

In June 2026, Trump hosted a special UFC event on the White House South Lawn to mark the 250th anniversary of US independence. The event, known as UFC Freedom 250, further highlighted the longstanding relationship between the president and the UFC chief.
