Dhaka, Nov 11 (V7N) — Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said there is no reason for public concern over the upcoming verdict in the crimes against humanity case against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, scheduled for November 13.

He made the remarks while speaking to reporters after a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Law and Order at the Secretariat on Tuesday morning (November 11).

“The law enforcement agencies are fully prepared and alert. If anyone suspicious is seen, people should immediately inform the authorities,” the advisor said. He added that the government has taken a strong stance against any attempt at unrest linked to the Awami League’s November 13 lockdown, which has been banned.

He further stated that no terrorists will be spared and urged that bail for suspected militants and violent offenders should not be granted easily.

Jahangir Alam also noted that the drive to recover illegal weapons is ongoing and will be intensified. “Some weapons are still unaccounted for, but we hope they will soon be recovered,” he said, adding that roadside petrol sales have been temporarily halted to prevent the misuse of fuel in arson attacks.

The advisor confirmed that patrols and security have been beefed up at key installations, including tribunals, the metro rail, and railway stations, and that law enforcement agencies remain on high alert.

He acknowledged that while some isolated incidents have occurred in recent days, the overall situation remains stable. “Alongside police efforts, political parties and the general public must also act responsibly to prevent violence,” he added.
