DHAKA, June 19 (V7N) – In recognition of their significant contributions to protecting and studying the nation's diverse fauna, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has officially announced the four recipients of the National Wildlife Conservation Award 2025. The nominees, comprising individuals and institutions, were recognized for their outstanding work in both direct conservation efforts and crucial research and education.
The selections, published in an official gazette by the ministry's Forest Wing-2 on Wednesday, highlight dedication across various facets of wildlife preservation. The honorees are:
For Wildlife Conservation (Individual Category): Md. Fazle Rabbi from Purbo Madhanagar, Naldanga Upazila, Natore District.
For Wildlife Conservation (Institution/Organization Category): Sherpur Bird Conservation Society.
For Wildlife Education and Research (Individual Category): Dr. Md. Monowar Hossain, Professor, Department of Zoology, Jahangirnagar University.
For Wildlife Education and Research (Institution Category): Department of Zoology, University of Dhaka.
Each awardee will receive a prestigious gold medal, weighing two bhori (approximately 23.32 grams) of 22-carat purity. In addition to the medal, they will be presented with a cheque for BDT 100,000 and a certificate of honor, according to a press release from the ministry.
The government hopes this national recognition will serve to elevate public awareness and encourage greater engagement in wildlife conservation, research, and environmental education across the country. Furthermore, it aims to inspire more eco-friendly initiatives and motivate future generations to actively participate in safeguarding Bangladesh's rich biodiversity.
