PABNA, May 21, (V7N)– In Santhia upazila’s Alokdia village, agriculturist Mostafa Jamal Shamim has created a remarkable example of generosity by opening his litchi garden to everyone – free of charge.
On his 8 bighas of land, Shamim has planted more than 200 litchi trees of various varieties. The garden is open not only to villagers and visitors but also to animals and birds. There are no fences, nets, or restrictions. Anyone can come, pick, eat, and even take litchis home without paying a single taka.
Shamim, who is also the Managing Director of Kimia Center in Pabna city, said: “No chemical fertilizers or pesticides are used. This initiative is to make villagers and children happy, so they can enjoy picking litchis with their own hands.”
Locals described the garden as a festival-like atmosphere. Families, teachers, and visitors from surrounding areas are flocking to enjoy the fruit. College teacher Arif Ahmed Siddiqui remarked: “If there is goodwill to do something for people, the impossible can be made possible. Shamim has shown that.”
Visitors like Pavel Mridha praised the initiative as rare in today’s commercial era, while school teacher Raju Ahmed said the project has made the village famous and saved locals from buying litchis at the market.
Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension in Pabna, Jahangir Alam, congratulated Shamim, noting that such generosity is rarely seen and could benefit poor communities if replicated elsewhere.
This initiative has already gone viral on social media, with many calling it a humanitarian model of community sharing and agricultural entrepreneurship.
