Dhaka, Jul 13 (V7N) — Continuous rainfall for the second consecutive day has disrupted normal life in the capital, with severe traffic congestion reported across several key areas of Dhaka since Monday morning.
The day began under an overcast sky, while high humidity created hot and uncomfortable conditions. Rain started at around 9:00 a.m., worsening traffic congestion in Mirpur, Motijheel, Karwan Bazar, Dhanmondi and Moghbazar, causing significant delays for commuters.
The adverse weather has also affected students and guardians as examinations are underway at various educational institutions. Many office-goers reported paying higher transport fares to reach their workplaces due to reduced vehicle availability and heavy traffic.
Meanwhile, Dhaka University and several private universities have postponed scheduled examinations and announced that classes will be conducted online in response to the weather situation.
Daily wage earners and outdoor workers have been among the worst affected, as they continue to work despite persistent rain and traffic disruptions.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast further rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms in Dhaka and several other parts of the country. It has also warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in some divisions, raising concerns over continued waterlogging and travel disruptions.
