Manila, Oct 09 (V7N) – A 4.8-magnitude earthquake struck near a city in the northern Philippines on Thursday morning, prompting workers to evacuate offices, AFP reported.

The shallow quake hit at 10:30 a.m. local time, sending tremors across the city of about 366,000 residents. State seismologists warned of possible damage from the quake, which affected an area home to millions of people.

The incident comes just 10 days after a deadly earthquake in the central Philippines that claimed more than 70 lives, according to local residents.
