DHAKA, April 12 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has intensified preparations at Dhaka and Chattogram venues ahead of the upcoming home series against New Zealand, focusing on improving wickets and outfields despite seasonal rains.
Grounds Committee Chairman Rafiqul Islam Babu said the aim is to produce quality wickets that ensure competitive cricket while maintaining fairness. “We want good wickets where both teams can play comfortably. There will be no shortage of international standards,” he said, noting that some conditions may still offer a degree of home advantage.
The newly formed ad hoc committee is implementing a structured plan for ground management, prioritising effective drainage systems, proper use of covers, and preserving outfield quality. Officials have been directed to submit detailed reports on venue conditions within two days, after which further steps will be taken.
“Although the time is short, I firmly believe that we can fix it if we have the will,” Babu added, underscoring the board’s determination to ensure international-standard facilities for the series.
