PARIS, May 28, (V7N) – Day four of Roland Garros is set to feature a compelling lineup of matches, with defending champions and title favorites Iga Swiatek and Carlos Alcaraz leading the charge. A highly anticipated clash between Swiatek and former US Open champion Emma Raducanu headlines the women's singles action.

Poland's Iga Swiatek, aiming for an unprecedented fourth consecutive French Open title since Suzanne Lenglen's historic run 102 years ago, will take on Britain's Emma Raducanu on Court Philippe Chatrier. Despite a slight dip in her WTA ranking to fifth, Swiatek opened her 2025 Roland Garros campaign with a confident straight-sets victory over Rebecca Sramkova. Swiatek holds a dominant 4-0 head-to-head record against Raducanu, never having dropped a set against the Brit. Their most recent encounter in the Australian Open in January saw Swiatek deliver a resounding 6-1, 6-0 win.

"We know each other's game. For sure I will need to be intense and focus on myself," said Swiatek, who boasts an impressive 36-2 win-loss record at the French Open. She added, "But for sure, you know, she won the US Open. She can play great tennis. I'll be ready."

Raducanu, making her first appearance at the tournament since her 2022 debut, overcame illness to secure a first-round victory against Wang Xinyu. Looking ahead to facing Swiatek, Raducanu commented, "I think exposure to the top players is great for where I'm at for my development. It's a match where I can go out and test myself and go for my shots, because I know if I just push the ball, I'm probably going to get eaten. I need to hit the ball."

In the same half of the draw as Swiatek, world number one Aryna Sabalenka is also in action. Sabalenka, who delivered a dominant 6-1, 6-0 victory over Kamilla Rakhimova in her opening round, will face Switzerland's Jil Teichmann. Last year's runner-up Jasmine Paolini, fresh off her Italian Open triumph, takes on Australia's Ajla Tomljanovic. Chinese star Zheng Qinwen, the 2024 Olympic gold medalist at Roland Garros, will play 85th-ranked Colombian Emiliana Arango.

On the men's side, reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz faces Hungary's Fabian Marozsan on Court Philippe Chatrier in a bid to reach the third round. Alcaraz, who has found his rhythm on clay this year by winning the Monte Carlo Masters and Italian Open and reaching the Barcelona Open final, will be wary of Marozsan, who previously upset him on clay in Rome two years ago.

"I study my opponents a little bit. I know that Fabian likes to hit drop shots," said the second seed Alcaraz. "So probably I'll put extra focus on that. I'm going to be ready for that... It's gonna be a drop-shot battle, I guess."

Seventh seed Casper Ruud of Norway, a two-time French Open runner-up, will compete against Portugal's Nuno Borges on Court Suzanne Lenglen. Denmark's Holger Rune, the only player to defeat Alcaraz on clay this year in the Barcelona final, takes on American wild card Emilio Nava. Additionally, Lorenzo Musetti, who has reached at least the semi-finals in all three Masters 1000 events on clay in 2024, will face Colombian lucky loser Daniel Elahi Galan.
