Darwin, Aug 11 (V7N)- Bangladesh are set to return to Australian soil for a Test series after 23 years, with the Tigers preparing for a two-match series against Australia.
Pacer Taskin Ahmed said the opportunity to play Test cricket in Australia is a proud moment for Bangladesh's cricketers, while acknowledging that the series will be a difficult challenge.
Speaking to the media after training in Darwin, Taskin said the team is determined to give its best despite the tough conditions.
"Playing Test cricket on Australian soil and against Australia is a very proud moment for all our cricketers. The series will definitely not be easy for us. However, we are hopeful of giving our best," he said.
Bangladesh also suffered defeat in their previous warm-up match. However, Taskin believes the match was valuable preparation for adapting to Australia's conditions and wickets.
"The feeling of losing was definitely not pleasant. But that can happen in cricket. We are still trying to adapt quickly to the conditions and wickets here. Even though the match was lost, it was good preparation," he said.
Bangladesh last played a Test series in Australia in 2003. After more than two decades, the Tigers are now back for another Test challenge, adding extra significance to the upcoming series.
The first Test will be played in Darwin on August 13, while the second Test is scheduled to take place in Mackay from August 22.
