Beirut, Jun 08 (V7N) – A Lebanese armed group has claimed responsibility for a series of drone and missile attacks targeting Israeli troops and military positions near the Lebanese border and in northern Israel, amid escalating cross-border hostilities.

In a statement issued on Monday, the group said it carried out a drone strike against Israeli forces in the Marj area near the Lebanese town of Merkaba.

The group also claimed to have targeted Israeli soldiers stationed in the Jal al-Hamma area, south of the town of Al-Adisa. According to the statement, additional drone attacks were launched against Israeli troops positioned at the Dove Barracks.

The armed group further stated that high-powered precision-guided missiles were used in the latest attacks. It claimed that the missiles successfully struck an Israeli artillery position at the Iftaha Barracks and hit gatherings of Israeli soldiers near Birkat al-Marj.

Israeli authorities have not immediately commented on the specific claims or reported any casualties resulting from the attacks.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces have continued intensive military operations across southern Lebanon. Local reports indicate that Israeli artillery and air strikes have targeted multiple towns and villages in the region in response to ongoing attacks from across the border.

The latest exchange of fire underscores the growing tensions along the Israel-Lebanon frontier, raising concerns about the possibility of a broader regional escalation.
