PABNA, Aug 04 (V7N)— A Russian national died and another was injured following a reported altercation between two intoxicated Russian workers at the residential complex of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project in Bangladesh's Pabna district, police said.

The incident took place on Monday morning on the fifth floor of Building No. 6 at the Green City residential complex, which houses foreign employees working on the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project in Ishwardi upazila.

The deceased was identified as Kudrin Sergei, 56, an Ultrasonic Testing Inspector employed by project contractor Trust Rossem. He lived in Room 51 on the fifth floor of the building. The identity of the injured Russian national has not yet been released by authorities.

According to police and local sources, the two men had reportedly consumed alcohol before becoming involved in a verbal dispute, which later escalated into a physical confrontation. Both sustained serious injuries during the incident.

They were initially taken to Green City Hospital for treatment. As Sergei's condition deteriorated, he was being transferred to a private hospital in Pabna, where he died on the way, officials said.

Additional Superintendent of Police Pranab Kumar, who oversees the Ishwardi Circle, said officers recovered the body and sent it to Pabna General Hospital for an autopsy.

"Preliminary information suggests the incident occurred following a physical altercation between two intoxicated Russian nationals. However, the matter remains under investigation," the police official said.

Authorities said legal proceedings are underway, and investigators are working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
