Washington, May 12 (V7N) — The United States has imposed fresh sanctions on several individuals and companies accused of helping transport Iranian oil to China, according to a report published by The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday (May 12).

The US State Department said sanctions were imposed on Monday (May 11) against three individuals and nine entities allegedly linked to Iran’s oil export operations.

Among the sanctioned entities, four are based in Hong Kong, four in the United Arab Emirates and one in Oman.

According to the US Department of the Treasury, the sanctioned individuals and companies assisted the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in exporting oil to China by using front companies to facilitate financial transactions and transportation arrangements.

Earlier last week, Washington also imposed sanctions on several individuals and organizations accused of helping Iran procure weapons and components used in the production of drones and ballistic missiles.

The State Department said the latest measures target a network involved in Iran’s alleged illicit oil trade and export system, including three senior officials associated with the IRGC’s Shahid Pourjafari Oil Headquarters.

US officials claim the network was responsible for arranging the sale and shipment of Iranian oil to foreign buyers on behalf of Tehran.

Washington further alleged that revenue generated from these oil exports is being used to support regional armed groups and military activities instead of benefiting the Iranian people, contributing to instability across the Middle East and increasing threats against the United States and its allies.
