UKHIA/TEKNAF, April 29, (V7N) — Police have arrested Md. Arif Ullah (26), the prime suspect in a Ramu Police Station kidnapping and theft case, during a raid in Dhaka.
The operation, led by SI Md. Anwar, took place Tuesday night in the Siddhirganj area of Narayanganj district. During interrogation, Arif Ullah confessed to his role in the kidnapping and theft of Tk 3.2 million. Based on his information, police later recovered Tk 4.3 million in cash and two mobile phones from the New Mooring area under EPZ Police Station in Chittagong.
Police said the accused admitted that part of the stolen money is with his brother, Md. Nasir, who runs a mobile phone shop in the Chittagong EPZ area. Nasir is currently absconding.
The victim confirmed in a court statement on April 26 that he had been kidnapped, strengthening the case against the accused.
Ramu Police Inspector (Investigation) Md. Farid stated that Arif Ullah has been sent to jail through the court. He added that operations are ongoing to arrest the other suspects involved.
