Dhaka, Jan 05 (V7N)- BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has called for making effective use of the new situation and opportunities that have emerged in Bangladesh following recent political changes, stressing that both the government and opposition parties must work together to move the country forward.
He made the remarks on Monday (January 5) during a meeting with leaders of the Democratic United Front, an alliance of left-leaning political parties, at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan.
During the meeting, leaders of the United Front expressed their condolences over the death of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. The discussion also covered various aspects of contemporary national politics.
Addressing the meeting, Tarique Rahman said that the Liberation War of 1971 is the foundation of the nation, adding,
“If 1971 is excluded, the country itself will not exist.”
Leaders of the left alliance emphasized the importance of political tolerance and mutual respect, calling for cooperation despite differences of opinion on various political and ideological issues.
The meeting reflected ongoing dialogue among political parties aimed at ensuring national unity, democratic progress, and political stability during the current transition period.
