Dhaka, Sep 12 (V7N)- Leaders and activists of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) held a torchlight procession in the capital’s Gulshan area on Friday evening to protest a surprise rally reportedly organized by the Awami League, whose activities are currently banned.

The procession was organized by the Gulshan Thana unit of NCP Dhaka Metropolitan North.

The procession began at the Gulshan-2 intersection and ended near the Shooting Club area in Gulshan-1. Leaders and activists of the Gulshan Thana unit participated in the demonstration.

Earlier on Friday afternoon, the Awami League reportedly staged a surprise rally in the Gulshan area. Two crude bombs, commonly known as cocktails, were detonated during the rally, while police later recovered five additional crude bombs from the area.

The NCP organized the evening torchlight procession in protest against the rally and the reported incidents of crude bomb explosions.
