BARGUNA, Sept 9 (V7N) — Leaders of the National Citizen Party (NCP) have said that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will not be able to remain in power for five years if it fails to meet the expectations of the people.
They also made a strong statement about former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, saying that she would not be able to return to Bangladesh and that her grave would not be on Bangladeshi soil.
The remarks were made during a press briefing at the Bay of Bengal Restaurant in Barguna town on Tuesday (Sept 8), following an NCP rally.
NCP central assistant organising secretary Al Nahian, chief organiser Sarjis Alam, central organiser Mohiuddin Rony, joint convener Golam Sarwar Tushar and divisional organiser Advocate Mujahidul Islam were present at the briefing.
The NCP leaders said the government must take visible and effective measures to address rising commodity prices, electricity, gas and fuel shortages, law and order concerns, extortion and corruption.
They also called for the implementation of the verdict of the referendum and demanded that public concerns, including the trial of those responsible for the July killings, be given due priority.
Speaking about the BNP, NCP chief organiser Sarjis Alam said the party would not be able to complete a five-year term in office if it failed to fulfil the expectations of the people after coming to power.
Commenting on the Awami League and Sheikh Hasina, Alam said she would not be able to return to Bangladesh. He further said, “Sheikh Hasina’s grave will not be in Bangladesh.”
NCP leaders and activists from Barguna were present at the press briefing.
