Dhaka, Dec 28 (V7N)- BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that the warm reception he received upon returning to Bangladesh after more than 17 years in exile will remain unforgettable for the rest of his life.

In a post published on his verified Facebook page at 9:59 pm on Saturday, Tarique Rahman wrote that the memories of Thursday’s homecoming, the massive gatherings on Dhaka’s streets, and the prayers of millions of people will always stay close to his heart.

“Last Thursday will remain unforgettable in my heart for the rest of my life. After 17 long years, I have set foot on the soil of my motherland again. Your warm welcome, the sea of people on the streets of Dhaka, and the prayers of millions—these are moments I will never forget. My deep gratitude to everyone,” he wrote.

Expressing heartfelt appreciation, the BNP leader said the love and respect shown to him and his family cannot be expressed in words.

“Those who stood by us despite all adversities, who never lost hope—your courage constantly gives me strength,” he added.

Tarique Rahman also thanked citizens from all walks of life, including civil society members, youths, professionals, farmers, workers, and people of all professions.

“You have reminded us that Bangladesh is strongest when its people are united,” he said.

He further expressed gratitude to the media, acknowledging their responsible role in presenting the moment of his return to audiences at home and abroad. He also praised the law enforcement agencies for ensuring security and maintaining peace during his return, noting their broader role in safeguarding public safety across the country.

The BNP acting chairman additionally thanked leaders of other political parties and movements who welcomed his return, describing their gestures as reflections of democratic values, multiparty coexistence, and the indomitable will of the people.

Emphasizing political reconciliation, Tarique Rahman highlighted the need for a democratic, peaceful political culture, calling for a departure from politics of revenge.

“I did not just speak of a dream—I spoke of a practical plan for the future of Bangladesh. A Bangladesh where there is peace and dignity, where every person feels safe and respected, and where every child grows up with the light of hope,” he said.

Concluding his message, he stressed that the vision he outlined is for all Bangladeshis, adding:

“This plan is for a united, inclusive Bangladesh—for a Bangladesh that moves forward with everyone.”
