Dhaka, Nov 13 (V7N) — BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has warned that any group attempting to hold the government hostage to achieve their demands will be isolated from the people.
He made the remarks at a press briefing on Thursday (November 13) morning following a meeting between BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and French Ambassador to Dhaka Jean-Marc Serre-Charles.
Khasru said, “No party has the right to hold anyone hostage for their demands. Those who follow such a path will be rejected by the people. Citizens expect tolerance and responsibility from all political actors.”
He also cautioned that the BNP will not take responsibility if the Chief Adviser makes any decision outside the framework of the July National Charter, which was signed as a roadmap for political transition.
“The election has nothing to do with justice — those who attempt to obstruct it are enemies of democracy,” Khasru added. He noted that like other nations, France also supports the holding of the national election by February, emphasizing that the international community is eager to work with an elected government in Bangladesh.
