Dhaka, Nov 07 (V7N) — Mirza Abbas, member of BNP’s Standing Committee, has defended the party’s history, asserting that the BNP has never conspired nor sought to come to power through illegitimate means. He spoke at a program marking National Revolution and Solidarity Day in Nayapaltan, Dhaka, on Friday afternoon.

Abbas criticized other parties, saying some “trade religion” and “sell tickets to paradise,” while falsely accusing BNP of plotting against democracy. He emphasized that BNP, under the leadership of martyred President Ziaur Rahman, achieved the country’s independence and has always upheld its sovereignty.

He added that BNP has acted as a calm, civilized, and polite party, cooperating with the current government. However, he warned, “If you mistake our politeness for weakness, you are living with fools. If BNP takes the field, you will not be found to take your pills.”

Regarding the charter, Abbas urged the public to learn from history and avoid being misled by those attempting to destroy it, saying, “Many people talk at length about it; we wanted to accept it, but you are trying to destroy it by finding one flaw or another. Do not mislead the nation again.”
