Dhaka, Nov 06 (V7N)- Eight political parties, including Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, organized a march from Paltan towards Jamuna, aiming to submit a five-point memorandum to Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. However, their procession was blocked by police in front of Matsa Bhavan in the capital.

After the obstruction, a delegation representing the coalition proceeded to the Chief Advisor’s Office in Jamuna to formally submit the memorandum on Thursday (November 6) afternoon.

The march began after 12 noon from Shapla Chattar, where eight Islamic and right-leaning parties first gathered. From there, they marched toward Paltan and held a short rally before attempting to move toward Jamuna.

Their five-point demands include:

1. Issuing an order to implement the July National Charter and holding a referendum within November.

2. Ending political harassment and arrests during the interim government’s tenure.

3. Ensuring equal opportunities for all parties in the upcoming elections.

4. Guaranteeing religious freedom for all.

5. Allowing the unhindered activities of all political organizations.

At the rally, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar addressed the Chief Advisor, saying,

“Give the July Charter a legal basis by holding a referendum within November. If you don’t do that, you will ruin your own dignity and fail to fulfill the people’s aspirations.”

After the brief rally, the party leaders and activists began their march on foot toward Jamuna, carrying banners and placards demanding swift implementation of the July Charter and restoration of political rights.
