Tel Aviv, July 26 (V7N)- Hundreds of people gathered in Tel Aviv to protest against increasing violence by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank and the continued Israeli military control over Palestinian territories.
The demonstration was held on Kaplan Street in Tel Aviv on Saturday (July 26), according to Israeli media reports.
Israeli police said the protesters had not obtained the required permission to hold the demonstration. Authorities claimed that some protesters disrupted public order and blocked roads, leading police to intervene. At least nine people were detained during the incident.
The protesters called for an immediate end to attacks by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank and demanded an end to what they described as long-standing military rule over Palestinian territories.
The recent rise in violence by Israeli settlers has drawn criticism from various groups within Israel, with activists demanding greater accountability and protection for Palestinian civilians.
Meanwhile, according to Palestinian sources, at least 1,185 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the occupied West Bank since October 7, 2023. The figure includes at least 250 children.
The sources also said more than 12,600 Palestinians have been injured during the same period, while over 24,000 Palestinians have been detained by Israeli forces.
According to available data, as of July 1, 2026, thousands of Palestinians remain imprisoned in Israel, including many held under administrative detention without formal charges or trial.
The United Nations and international human rights organizations have repeatedly expressed concern over the lack of accountability for violence in the occupied West Bank. Rights groups have alleged that legal action against Israeli settlers accused of attacks on Palestinians is rare, while convictions of Israeli soldiers involved in such incidents are also limited.
