Dhaka, July 26 (V7N)- Former President Md. Shahabuddin is scheduled to leave Bangabhaban on Sunday (July 26) and move to his private residence in Gulshan following his resignation from office on health grounds.

After submitting his resignation letter, the outgoing president remained at Bangabhaban, where he also held a farewell meeting with officials and employees before his departure.

Md. Shahabuddin resigned nearly two and a half years before the scheduled completion of his five-year term, citing health reasons. Following the vacancy in the office, Speaker of the National Parliament Hafiz Uddin Ahmed assumed the responsibilities of Acting President in accordance with the Constitution.

Following the resignation, attention turned to the former president's next residence. Officials said all necessary preparations have been completed at his Gulshan residence, where security measures have also been strengthened ahead of his arrival.

Meanwhile, Acting President Hafiz Uddin Ahmed has continued to stay at the official residence allocated to the Speaker despite assuming the responsibilities of the Head of State.

Security at the Speaker's residence has been reinforced, with the President Guard Regiment (PGR) and the Special Security Force (SSF) taking charge of protection.

Although he will continue residing at the Speaker's official residence, Acting President Hafiz Uddin Ahmed is expected to carry out his official duties from Bangabhaban until a new President is elected.
