Dhaka, June 27 (V7N) - A two-day road march from Dhaka to Chattogram begins on Friday, in protest against the leasing of Chattogram Port to foreign companies and the proposed corridor through Rakhine. The program also calls for the protection of national resources and sovereignty.
The march is being organized under the banner of the "Anti-Imperialist Patriotic Masses," a coalition of left-leaning political parties and organizations. The main slogan of the movement is: "Mother, Soil, and Estuary—We Won’t Hand Them Over to Foreigners."
As per the schedule, the march will commence at 9:30 AM Friday with an inaugural rally in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka. From there, participants will proceed through Narayanganj, Sonargaon, Chandina, and Cumilla, reaching Feni by night. Along the route, rallies and street processions will be held at various points, with a concluding rally in Cumilla at the end of the first day.
On Saturday morning, the second day of the march will begin from Feni, continuing through Mirsarai and Sitakunda, and ending with a final rally in front of Chattogram Port.
To show solidarity with the Dhaka–Chattogram road march, left-wing groups and supporters across all districts and sub-districts will simultaneously organize protest programs over the two days.
The demonstrators have voiced strong opposition to any foreign control over key infrastructures like ports and corridors, asserting that such actions compromise the country’s sovereignty and economic independence.
