Sangsad Bhaban, April 23 (V7N) — Education Minister Dr. Ehsanul Hoque Milon told parliament today that technical trade courses will be introduced in 1,000 madrasas across the country in phases as part of efforts to modernize madrasa education.
Replying to a starred question from NCP lawmaker Md. Abul Hasnat (Cumilla-4), the minister said the government has undertaken initiatives to make madrasa education “time-befitting” by incorporating profession-oriented and vocational subjects into the curriculum.
“Alongside religious studies, arrangements will be made to teach science, technology, information technology (IT), and English language in madrasas,” Milon said.
He added that a committee formed by the Technical and Madrasa Education Division has already begun updating the curriculum. In line with the government’s election manifesto, steps have been taken to ensure technical education for all madrasa students.
So far, vocational courses have been introduced in 548 madrasas, and technical trade courses will be gradually expanded to another 1,000 institutions, the minister noted.
