Dhaka, Aug 10 (V7N) – Admissions to Class XI at the higher secondary level will be conducted entirely online based on students' SSC GPA scores and college preferences, with no admission tests or lottery systems, according to the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee.
Around 25 lakh seats are available for HSC-level admissions across the country, and the process is expected to be completed by September 15, with classes commencing immediately thereafter, said Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee President and Dhaka Education Board Chairman Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman.
"The admission process will be completed by September 15 and classes for the new academic year will begin immediately afterwards," he told journalists at a press conference held at the Ministry of Education following the publication of SSC and equivalent examination results.
Professor Akhtaruzzaman said the date for the start of classes would be announced soon through an official notification.
Regarding seat availability, he noted that while approximately 25 lakh seats exist at the HSC level nationwide, last year only 58.7 percent were filled, leaving around 41.3 percent vacant.
"This year, we expect the number of vacant seats to increase further in proportion to the number of eligible students," he added.
Explaining the admission procedure, the education board chairman confirmed that no student would be admitted through a lottery or admission test. Instead, under the existing system, students will be allocated colleges and seats based on their GPA scores in the SSC and equivalent examinations and the order of preference stated in their applications.
He said the schedule and timeline for Class XI admissions have already been finalized, and a detailed notification and admission policy would be issued shortly. Students and guardians have been advised to wait for the official guidelines before applying.
