Mongla, Dec 24 (V7N) — The Mongla municipal unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) held a celebratory rally and street meeting on Tuesday afternoon marking the return of the party’s Acting Chairman, Tarique Rahman, to Bangladesh.

The rally began from the party’s temporary office on Madrasa Road in the municipal town and marched through the main streets of Mongla. Following the procession, a street meeting was held at the municipal market premises.

Among those who addressed the gathering were Mongla Poura BNP General Secretary Mahbubur Rahman Manik, Organizing Secretary Nasir Talukder, former municipal panel mayor Md. Alauddin, and General Secretary of Ward No. 3 BNP Kazi Faruk.

Speakers said that after nearly 18 years in London, Tarique Rahman is returning to the country, describing the moment as historic for BNP leaders and supporters. They announced that leaders and activists of Mongla Poura BNP would travel to Dhaka to welcome him.

They further said that under the leadership of Mongla Poura BNP President and former Mayor Md. Zulfikar Ali, hundreds of party leaders and activists will depart for Dhaka on December 24. Party leaders added that all necessary arrangements for transportation and participation have been made by President Zulfikar Ali to ensure the presence of Mongla BNP leaders and workers at the reception program.
