Tangail, July 3 (V7N) — Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, BNP’s Publicity Secretary, has called for national unity and a commitment to democratic principles to build a better Bangladesh. Speaking as the chief guest at a voluntary blood donation event organized by the Tangail chapter of Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) on Thursday, Tuku emphasized that the country belongs to all its people and urged everyone to work collectively for a democratic and prosperous future.

The event was held at Tangail Medical College as part of BNP’s central July-August movement programs, which mark a year since the start of what the party terms the "Democratic Uprising."

"We must keep the democratic process alive. Let us stop debating movements and divisions and instead build the Bangladesh of tomorrow — a Bangladesh rooted in democracy," Tuku said during his speech.

He added that the country must move toward a society free from terrorism, anarchy, and extortion. Citing the words of BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, he noted that the party would take strict action against any individual found guilty of social injustice or corruption. "Anyone involved in acts that harm the public or are linked to oppression will be held accountable," he stated.

Tuku also reflected on the sacrifices made by BNP members over the years. "In the past 17 years, countless BNP leaders have been abducted or killed. Our party leader was imprisoned for six long years. Numerous Islamic scholars were murdered. Over 500 BNP activists have given their lives for this cause," he said.

As the movement nears its one-year mark, Tuku urged unity among party members. "If we become divided, the blood of those who sacrificed everything will question us. Was this why they died? The people of Bangladesh have rejected fascism — democracy must now prevail," he asserted.

The blood donation program was inaugurated by Tangail BNP President Hasanuzzamil Shaheen, with DAB Tangail President Dr. Abdul Matin presiding. Other notable speakers included BNP District Secretary Advocate Forhad Iqbal and former District Member Secretary Mahmudul Haque Sanu.

The event was attended by leaders and activists from Tangail BNP, its affiliated wings, and the local DAB chapter.
