Dhaka, Dec 14 (V7N) — Fifteen army officers arrested in three separate cases of crimes against humanity were produced before the International Crimes Tribunal-1 on Sunday (December 14).

A three-member judicial panel, led by Tribunal Chairman Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Majumder, is scheduled to deliver its order following the hearings.

Earlier, the state prosecution concluded its arguments on the framing of formal charges. Subsequently, lawyers representing the accused sought discharge from the allegations, arguing for exemption from the charges.

Meanwhile, the tribunal is also set to hear arguments in the disappearance and torture case linked to the RAB’s TFI cell, in which former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, Tariq Ahmed Siddique, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and 17 others have been named as accused. Of them, seven remain absconding.

In addition, the tribunal will hear another case related to the killing of 28 people in Rampura, in which Lieutenant Colonel Redwanul Islam and army officer Rafat Bin Alam are currently under arrest. The case includes four other accused, among whom two police officers are still absconding.

The tribunal is expected to issue further directions after hearing arguments from both the prosecution and defense.
