Dhaka, Sept 28 (V7N) - Shahed Ahmed Majumdar, son of former State Minister for Industries and former Dhaka-15 MP Kamal Ahmed Majumdar, was detained Saturday night in the Gulshan area of Dhaka.
The detention was confirmed by Officer-in-Charge, (OC) Md. Hafizur Rahman of Gulshan Model Police Station, who stated that Shahed was brought in for questioning regarding certain ongoing investigations. He added that if any evidence links him to the cases, formal charges would be filed.
Kamal Ahmed Majumdar was arrested on the night of October 19 last year over multiple charges related to killings during the July–August student protests against inequality. He is currently serving his sentence in prison.
Following the change of government in August 2024, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) began investigations into alleged corruption involving Kamal Ahmed Majumdar. Shahed Ahmed Majumdar’s detention appears to be part of these ongoing inquiries.
Authorities have not released further details regarding the scope of Shahed Majumdar’s involvement or potential legal proceedings.
