Dhaka, Aug 14 (V7N) – Amid the soaring prices of essential commodities, the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has been offering some relief to low-income people through its truck sale program. Items like pulses, sugar, and cooking oil are sold at affordable prices from trucks across various locations in the capital, Dhaka.
On Monday, long queues were seen in front of TCB trucks as hard-working citizens, as well as middle-class buyers, lined up to purchase these subsidized goods. The objective is to reduce the rising cost of daily food supplies. However, due to the high number of customers and limited stock, many people returned home empty-handed.
Reports from several sales centers in the capital, including Mugda, showed that while the demand for these goods is high, supply remains inadequate to meet the overwhelming number of buyers. This discrepancy between supply and demand continues to frustrate many of those who rely on such programs for affordable daily essentials.
The truck sales initiative by TCB has been an ongoing attempt to ease the burden on families struggling with inflation, but as prices of essential goods continue to rise, it remains uncertain whether this program alone can provide long-term relief.
