Dhaka, Aug 10 (V7N) – Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has expressed profound shock and grief over the deaths of 16 Bangladeshi nationals in a devastating factory fire in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and has directed authorities to expedite the repatriation of the victims' bodies.
The Prime Minister conveyed his deepest sympathies to the bereaved families and assured them of all necessary support during this time of irreparable loss, according to a statement from his office.
"The Prime Minister directed the ministries concerned to take coordinated measures to bring the bodies of the victims back home at the earliest. All necessary cooperation would be provided from the Prime Minister's Office to this end," said Prime Minister's Press Secretary Saleh Shibly, quoting the premier.
Shibly added that the Prime Minister is continuously monitoring developments related to the incident and is ensuring coordinated efforts between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment, along with the Bangladesh mission in Riyadh, to facilitate the swift return of the bodies.
The tragic fire broke out on Sunday at a sofa manufacturing factory in the Saudi capital, claiming the lives of 16 Bangladeshi workers. Details regarding the cause of the blaze and the identities of the victims are yet to be officially released.
The government has assured that all necessary consular and logistical support will be extended to the affected families as authorities work to complete the repatriation process without delay. Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
