Dhaka, Aug 10 (V7N) – Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi has emphasized the importance of dialogue and constructive engagement in resolving any issues between the two neighbouring countries, expressing confidence that no problem is insurmountable if both sides work together.
"I have absolute confidence that there is no problem that cannot be resolved if the two countries sit down together," Trivedi told journalists after holding a meeting with Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed at his office in the Bangladesh Secretariat today. "The goal should be to find solutions that create a win-win situation for both India and Bangladesh."
Speaking about his recent meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the High Commissioner described the interaction as "exceptionally positive" and praised the Prime Minister as a "humble" leader who remains closely connected with the people.
Trivedi emphasized that India and Bangladesh share far more than a common border. "We don't only share borders, we share dreams," he said, highlighting the strong historical, geographical and people-to-people ties between the two nations.
Acknowledging that differences and issues are natural between neighbouring countries, the High Commissioner noted such challenges should not be viewed as a failure of diplomacy or bilateral relations. Rather, he stressed, they can be effectively resolved through open and constructive discussions.
Trivedi also underscored the strong bond between the citizens of both countries, saying ordinary people on both sides genuinely want India-Bangladesh relations to remain friendly and positive.
Recalling his own experience in Bangladesh, the High Commissioner expressed gratitude for the "love, respect and affection" he has received from the people here.
He expressed confidence that the two countries can further strengthen their partnership through continued dialogue, cooperation and closer people-to-people ties.
