Dhaka, Oct 11 (V7N)- Shipping Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam has said that Bangladesh's port management strategy should be formulated with the country's broader interests and national development in mind.
He made the remarks at a seminar on the formulation of the Bangladesh National Port Strategy at Hotel Sonargaon in the capital on Sunday morning.
The minister said a lack of coordination between the ministry and relevant agencies could create various complications in port management. He also noted that Bangladesh has significant potential to make its ports more business-friendly.
State Minister for Shipping Rajib Ahsan, speaking at the same seminar, emphasized the importance of ensuring adequate facilities and amenities for port workers and local communities involved in port-related activities.
He called for coordinated initiatives to address existing challenges and move towards practical solutions.
