Dhaka, Dec 10 (V7N)- Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain stated on Wednesday that the matter of bringing the convicted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina back to Bangladesh depends entirely on India.

Speaking to reporters at a briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he said, “Although we have heard reports that Sheikh Hasina is leaving India and going to a third country, there is no specific information in diplomatic channels. The issue of getting Sheikh Hasina back depends on India.”

Md. Touhid Hossain also addressed concerns over potential US sanctions related to human rights issues, stating that there is no fear of new sanctions. He added that the government is continuing diplomatic efforts to lift existing sanctions on the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

Responding to questions about the UN Human Rights Office’s recommendations on Bangladesh’s intelligence agencies, the advisor said that organizations like the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) exist in all countries and that there is no chance of it being dismantled based on such international suggestions.

The government emphasized that it remains committed to addressing human rights issues while maintaining the functionality of national security agencies.
