Dhaka, Dec 02 (V7N) — Health Affairs Advisor Nur Jahan Begum has said the government is working to ensure that citizens no longer need to travel abroad for heart disease treatment.

She made the remarks on Tuesday while inaugurating the Bangladesh–China Joint Cardiovascular Disease Hospital, the One-Stop Emergency Center, and the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) at the National Heart Institute and Hospital in the capital.

Advisor Nur Jahan Begum visited the hospital in the morning and formally inaugurated the new units aimed at improving and expanding cardiac healthcare services. She also inspected various activities of the hospital before joining a discussion meeting.

“The government is working to strengthen the country’s capacity for heart disease treatment so that no one has to depend on foreign hospitals,” she said, expressing gratitude to China for its continued cooperation in Bangladesh’s health sector.

Chinese Ambassador to Dhaka Yao Wen, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services Professor Abu Zafar, and Director of the National Heart Institute Professor Dr. Abdul Wadud were also present at the event.
