Dhaka, Oct 09 (V7N) – Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan, Advisor to the Ministry of Roads and Bridges, has expressed deep regret over discussions surrounding his “safe exit” from the government. He shared his reaction in a Facebook post on Thursday morning (October 9).
“Today, at the age of 72+, if I have to think about safe exit, it will be a matter of deep sorrow,” the advisor wrote, reflecting on his decades-long service.
He added, “Since joining as an advisor, my daily routine has been consistent. Even yesterday, I returned home at 8 p.m. I have never taken unfair advantage of my position. I have not given business or jobs to my relatives, friends, or acquaintances. I have always used my limited capabilities to serve the people. Despite opportunities during my teaching career, I did not take the guaranteed chance to become a permanent resident of the United States or Singapore.”
Referring to the person who raised the issue, former advisor and current NCP leader Nahid Islam, Fawzul Kabir described him as “a person of great affection and respect” and a “vanguard of the July Movement.” He further stated, “It is not appropriate for me to comment on his statement, and I do not make political comments.”
Addressing a recent incident involving his travel on a motorcycle without a helmet, the advisor clarified that it occurred due to a prolonged traffic standstill. “After standing for an hour on a seven to eight-kilometer road without progress, we first started walking and later decided to use a motorcycle. However, we found that neither the driver nor passengers had helmets. After searching eight to ten motorcycles, only one helmet was found. Upon everyone’s advice, I wore that single helmet,” he explained.
Fawzul Kabir added that he has instructed the police, BRTA, and district administration to take strict action against bikers not wearing helmets.
