Dhaka, Oct 08 (V7N) – Home Affairs Advisor Lt. Gen. (retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam said that the number of Awami League processions in the country has decreased compared to previous events. He made the remarks while speaking to journalists after handing over 20 new vehicles to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) headquarters on Wednesday afternoon.
The advisor noted that 244 people were once caught red-handed during a procession, which has contributed to the decline in such gatherings. He added that crime in the country will also reduce if citizens remain election-oriented.
Lt. Gen. Alam emphasized the importance of cooperation among all parties involved in the electoral process, saying, “The Election Commission has to work first, followed by the administration, law enforcement agencies, and political parties. The biggest stakeholder is the people. If they are election-oriented, nothing can stop them.”
He also highlighted a longstanding shortage of police vehicles, noting that the government has purchased 200 new vehicles since taking office, with 20 handed over to the DMP today.
