Dhaka, Oct 05 (V7N) – A delegation of Buddhist religious leaders exchanged greetings with Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus on the occasion of Prabarana Purnima at the State Guest House Jamuna on Sunday.
During the meeting, the Buddhist leaders highlighted the significance of Prabarana Purnima and extended their congratulations to the Chief Advisor. They also invited him to visit Bihar and expressed gratitude for the recent allocation of a site in Uttara, Dhaka, for Buddhist last rites—a provision that previously required families to travel to Chittagong.
The leaders informed the Chief Advisor about preparations for the Kati Chibar Dan celebration this year and extended special thanks to the Ministry of Religion and the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs for their continued support. They also raised various demands, including government management for Buddhist pilgrimages and the establishment of a knowledge center in the name of Buddhist scholar and philosopher Atish Dipankar.
Present at the meeting were Buddapriya Mahathe, Principal of Dharmarajik Buddhist Mahavihara; Bhikkhu Sunandapriya, General Secretary of Bangladesh Buddhist Federation; Bhikkhu Kalyan Jyoti of Parbatya Bhikkhu Sangha; Bhavesh Chakma, Vice Chairman of Buddhist Religious Welfare Trust; Swapan Barua Chowdhury, General Secretary of Dhaka Region of Bangladesh Buddhist Association; and trustees of the Buddhist Religious Welfare Trust including Professor Dr. Sukomal Barua, Mong Hola Ching, Sushil Chandra Barua, Professor Bobby Barua, Rubel Barua, and Rajib Kanti Barua.
Also attending were Religious Advisor Dr. A. F. M. Khalid Hossain and Advisor to the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Supradeep Chakma.
