Dhaka, June 23 (V7N) — Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, Advisor to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, inaugurated a workshop on the Commonwealth Charter in Dhaka on Monday (June 23), emphasizing the document’s relevance to democracy, human rights, and sustainable development.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at a hotel in the capital, Bhuiyan said, "The Commonwealth Charter is not just a document; it is a living promise that reminds us of our shared commitment to democracy, human rights, gender equality, and sustainable development."

Highlighting the demographic potential of the Commonwealth nations, he noted that 60 percent of the Commonwealth's population is under the age of 30, with an even higher proportion in Bangladesh. "The youth are the driving force behind this transformation," he added.

Referring to the recent July Uprising, Bhuiyan said, "The youth of this country have led the way in restoring democracy. Now, their active participation is essential to implementing the ideals of the Commonwealth Charter."

The workshop was attended by distinguished guests from both home and abroad, including the Assistant Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, diplomats, youth leaders, and civil society representatives.
