During an hours-long search, Israeli police confirmed they had detained two individuals in connection with the automobile ramming attack that left two bystanders hurt on Monday morning in Jerusalem.
One day when Israeli Jews began celebrating the Passover holidays was the day of the incident on Jerusalem's Techelet Mordechai Street.
"A short time ago, a report was received that two civilians had been run over on Techelet Mordechai Street in Jerusalem, resulting in minor injuries," a statement from the police stated.
"Two terrorists fled the scene on foot and an improvised weapon... was found on their escape route," it said.
The two injured were identified as 18 and 22 years old by emergency medical services provider Magen David Adom.
A white automobile crashed into a gathering of people at a street corner, according to security camera footage that was released on many Israeli news websites.
A second parked car is struck by the automobile, and two guys emerge, one of them seen attempting to pull a revolver.
The two may be seen leaving the scene a short while later.
The police said that two males had been taken into custody hours after the event, but they did not provide the men's names.
Following a thorough investigation, the security personnel were "directed to a closed business where the two terrorists were found hiding," according to a police statement released separately.
Since the beginning of the year, there have been many reports of automobile ramming incidents in a variety of Israeli cities and settlements located in the occupied West Bank.
