DHAKA, July 28 (V7N)— Shipping, Road Transport and Bridges, and Railways Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam has officially invited the Qatari government to invest in Bangladesh's port infrastructure, terminal development, logistics, and allied maritime sectors.
The minister extended the invitation during a courtesy meeting with Qatari Ambassador to Bangladesh Seraya Ali Al-Qahtani at the Secretariat in Dhaka.
During the discussion, both sides engaged in talks regarding port expansion, maritime commerce, logistics networks, and broader economic investment aimed at deepening bilateral relations between the two nations.
Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam highlighted that the government has launched comprehensive programs to modernize the nation's maritime infrastructure and increase operational capacity, with focused efforts underway to upgrade Chattogram, Mongla, and Payra ports to international standards.
Describing Qatar as a trusted partner, the minister expressed optimism that economic and trade ties between Bangladesh and Qatar would continue to expand in the coming years.
In response, Ambassador Seraya Ali Al-Qahtani praised the recent developments across Bangladesh's shipping and port sectors, expressing positive interest in exploring potential cooperation and investment opportunities.
Both sides reaffirmed their mutual commitment to maintaining regular communication and collaborating across ports, trade, shipping, and investment. Shipping Secretary Zakaria alongside other high-ranking ministry officials were also present during the meeting.
