DHAKA, July 28 (V7N) — The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has granted policy approval to three key energy sector proposals aimed at ensuring an uninterrupted national fuel supply and expanding energy infrastructure.
The recommendations were finalized during the committee's 23rd meeting of the year, held on Tuesday at the Cabinet Division Conference Room in the Bangladesh Secretariat, chaired by Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury.
All three proposals were submitted by the Energy and Mineral Resources Division:
Shortened Refined Fuel Bidding Timeline: To streamline import operations for the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) between September and December 2026, the committee approved reducing the tender preparation and submission period for refined fuel oil from 42 days to 21 days.
Kutubjom FSRU Installation: Policy approval was granted to process a proposal from China National Energy Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd. (CNEE) to construct the Kutubjom Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) at Maheshkhali in Cox’s Bazar under a government-to-government (G2G) procurement framework.
LNG Supply Deal with Gunvor USA: The committee recommended processing a proposal from Gunvor USA LLC to supply Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) through both short-term and long-term G2G arrangements.
Procurement for both the FSRU and LNG initiatives will adhere to Section 68 of the Public Procurement Act, 2006, alongside Rules 99(2) and 107(2) of the Public Procurement Rules, 2025.
