Doha, Nov 7 (V7N)- Qatar has urged the United States and Iran to reach an immediate peace agreement to end the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, warning that further delays could worsen the situation.

Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani made the appeal in an interview at Oxford University in the United Kingdom, published on Saturday (November 7), Al Jazeera reported.

He said there was no longer any room to wait for the right moment to end the conflict, stressing that both sides needed to reach an agreement before the situation deteriorated further.

Meanwhile, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari said in a post on social media platform X that Doha was maintaining close contact with both Washington and Tehran to help advance the ongoing negotiations.

Criticising what he described as misleading propaganda surrounding the peace talks, Al-Ansari said such claims served only the interests of those seeking to prolong the war.

US President Donald Trump also confirmed the diplomatic efforts following a telephone conversation with the Qatari prime minister. Trump said representatives of the United States and Iran were holding discussions aimed at ending the conflict.
