Dhaka, Oct 31 (V7N)- Ahmed Shahriar Reza Deep, arrested in connection with the death of former Air Force Flight Lieutenant Tahsif Sauri, was produced before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court on Saturday afternoon.

He was brought to court at around 2:00 pm, where investigators sought a seven-day remand for questioning.

Tahsif’s father, KM Enayetul Karim, filed a murder case against unidentified individuals at Uttarkhan Police Station on Friday night. Deep was subsequently shown arrested in connection with the case.

Speaking to reporters, Enayetul Karim said he could not accept the circumstances surrounding his son’s death. He called for an investigation involving different state agencies to ensure a fair trial and uncover the truth.

Motorcycle Recovered During Investigation

After conducting an investigation at the scene throughout Friday, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) handed Deep over to the Naval Police around midnight.

Investigators also recovered Tahsif’s motorcycle from the Mazar Basti area of Tongi. According to the information provided by Deep, Tahsif allegedly jumped into the Turag River after the two were chased by two men in uniform. The claim has not been independently verified.

Naval Police recovered Tahsif’s body from the Rajabari Ghat area of the Turag River on the afternoon of October 28. The former Air Force officer had reportedly been missing since the night of October 27.

Meanwhile, the Retired Armed Forces Officers’ Welfare Association (RAWA) has expressed concern over Tahsif Sauri’s death.

The organisation’s General Secretary, retired Lieutenant Colonel Abu Nowroz Khurshid Alam, said former military officers, like other members of the public, wanted the actual circumstances behind the death to be established quickly.
