Dhaka, Dec 05 (V7N) – Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasooriya has expressed her gratitude to Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus for sending emergency humanitarian assistance following the devastating cyclone and flash floods that struck Sri Lanka.
Prime Minister Amarasooriya personally called Professor Yunus on Thursday evening to convey her appreciation for Bangladesh’s “outpouring of support and solidarity” after the disaster, which has claimed hundreds of lives and caused massive destruction across the country.
During the call, Professor Yunus extended his condolences for those affected and reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to providing continued assistance. He also assured that additional emergency aid and disaster-response experts would be deployed to support ongoing relief operations. “We will be happy to do whatever is needed,” he said.

Professor Yunus also invited the Sri Lankan Prime Minister to visit Bangladesh at a convenient time. Senior Secretary and SDG Coordinator Lamia Morshed and a Director General from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present during the conversation.
